My Balearic Adventure – Part 1

Sullerica cervesa amb flor de taronger original (beer with orange blossom).

Firstly I couldn’t have chosen a better place to try this beer out, than at the top of Puig de San Martí; a mountain my dad climbed 10-15 years ago, that stands 700 feet above sea level.

On to the beer; made in Sóller this beer is outstanding proof that the spanish and especially the Mallorcans can make fantastic beer! As the name states, the beer has a distinct aroma and taste of orange blossom and even has brief notes of orange peel. As well as being rich in these orange flavours, sullerica has a rich, almost creamy maltiness to it, typically of some British ales!

For me this beer has given me a taste and a very high expectation for what Spain and the Balearic Islands have to offer in terms of truly notable ales.
